A1: Supply of equipment for the modernization of the Sport Hall in Boljevac

The sport potential of Boljevac Municipality is tremendous since there’re many talented athletes and engaged audience – two necessary components for the vitality of the recreational life; however there is an existing need for technical modernization and diversification of the equipment for a more effective training process. Therefore the activity is directed towards supply of basic provisions which can significantly improve the quality of the local young athletes’ trainings as well as serve as an impetus for a more concentrated and intense recreational community life. The equipment includes: olympic EZ barbell, rubber dumbbell, adjustable bench, lat machine with cable and weights, cardio cross trainer, aerobic step platform and other training facilities needed for the diversification of physical activities proved by the city of Boljevac.

A2: Construction activities for improved recreational environment in “P.Parchevich” school, Chiprovtzi

The purpose of the activity is to be carried out construction works, namely repair of a school yard at Secondary School “P.Parchevich” in Chiprovtsi.

For the complete implementation of the educational process, it is imperative to realize a complex of activities for repairing the sports and leisure areas of the students, by carrying out repair and restoration to the yard and the playgrounds. The current activity strives at providing a stimulative environment for recreational activities of the students where they can improve their skills and feel at ease; in a larger context it will solidify the position of the school as an educational institution of high standards able to meet the needs of its students.

A3: Research on the presence of sport in the young people’s lives

The current research does not have the pretention to cover all the aspects of the physical life at large; however it strives to incorporate some of its elements with high relevance to the general aim, more concretely: establishment of an objective and comprehensive overview of the current recreational condition in Boljevac and Chiprovtzi with its strengths and weaknesses as well as valuable evaluation in terms of practicality, all within the perspective of the youth in the region. It is concentrated on 3 integral variations of recreational presence: direct involvement, audience participation and facilities/organizations providing services of such type; it gravitates towards the matters of sufficiency/insufficiency of the platforms for participation and their essence in terms of quality as the opinion of the young people (elaboration of an inclusive yet simple questionnaire which will be freely distributed among the youth; 2 pages – 15 questions accompanied with opportunity to freely express additional information on the topic in the form of conversation with the interviewer ) is being taken into serious consideration. The second stage of the research will be consolidation, categorization and synthesis of the obtained information on which basis an identification of the deficiencies in the sport life of the community will be made, as well as suggestions for its partial and/or general improvement.

A4: Organizing a joint seminar „Europe as we (don’t ) know it“

The aim of the seminar is to gather young people from both sides of the border and to give them the opportunity to gain a better understanding of the European project. It will focus on several basic points: history and shared values, integration processes, policies, citizenship rights and main challenges with the objective of forming a fair and thorough image of the Union. There will be 4 panels each of which dedicated to specific topic with high relevance to the beneficiaries: • European Union in its integrity • Bulgaria and the EU: 11 years of membership • Serbia and the EU: the perspective towards membership • Sport and integration: EU policies towards better physical and cognitive health of the youth The thematic divisions will fulfill the need of differentiation in the information flow in order for it to be more balanced, precise and easily processed; the goal is to provoke reaction in the participants and to set the basis for further engagement and valuable discussion. The seminar importance is defined by the deficit of primary knowledge among the youth (but not only) about the European affairs and about the history of the region they inhabit thus compromising the ability of active citizenship.

A5: Live responsibly: The benefits of sport (seminar for parents)

Playing comes from the heart; it can be described as free and meaningful activity, carried out for its own sake, spatially and temporally segregated from the requirements of practical life, and bound by self-contained system of rules that holds absolutely. However, the consequences from playing (or physical activity of any type) can be extremely beneficial for the agents involved; studies have shown that youngster who practice different sports, possess a more resilient self-image, better sleep habits and strong cognitive vitality. Furthermore, they are more protected from the threat of social isolation and mental health deterioration. Playing is considered to be an absorbing and essential element of the children’s everyday relation to the world; in that sense sustainable physical activity habits can lead to a constructive and satisfactory living perspective the benefits of which are immense and lasting. The current activity aims at presenting the parents with a) the many not sufficiently explored advantages of sports and b) logistical information on the topic – types of activities practiced in the CBC region, time, duration and place, process of participation and etc. which is estimated to contribute to a tangible raise of the level of youngsters involved in relevant kind of physical activities. It will be realized in the form of seminars (one in Boljevac and one in Chiprovtzi) with parents from the region (15 from Boljevac and 15 from Chiprovtzi) and will last one day.

A6: Campaign “Be Healthy – Chiprovtzi”

The campaign is directed towards practical introduction of the young people of Chiprovtzi with the various benefits of sport as they will be invited to participate in different open recreational events that are estimated to: (i) improve their physical spirit and general health condition (ii) enhance and widen their social relations with peers (iii)stimulate their desire for self-development. The activity will be comprised of 3 specialized modules – covering the various interests of the youth, each lasting one month with frequency of 1 time per week (1 month = 4 events): • Run and learn: the current module will present the participants will opportunities for involvement of dynamic physical activities – for example aerobics, with experienced trainer who will work simultaneously on their skills and motivations; • Walk and explore: the current module will allow every youngster with interest towards the natural heritage to spent some quality time exploring the local environment while improving his/her general physical condition and meet new people with similar passions. • In search for balance: the last module’s objective is to involve the youngsters in tranquil activities –for ex. yoga, in contrast to the established dynamical daily routine thus strengthening their cognitive health and improving their mind-body balance. The events will be accompanied with extensive promotional activity in order more youngsters to be reached.

A8: Run faster than your fears – marathone

The activity explores the potential of the marathon as a tool for continuous stimulation and persistence of the efforts; running a distance with no or little training can be exhausting so a need for regularity of exercises becomes evident to the youngsters with participatory interest. The theme of the marathon will be the importance of mental health as one of the proven ways to maintain strong cognitive vitality is an active and sustainable lifestyle comprised of constructive social interaction and regular physical activity – both integral components of the underlying nature of a marathon. It will be realized in the cities Chiprovtzi and Boljevac; however youngsters from the whole cross-border region will be welcomed. The marathon will last one day-preferably Sunday, as the target distance the participants will have to meet is 5 km. After the successful finish each of the participants will receive a document of affirmation/certificate honoring his/her efforts for the common cause.

A9: Short movie “Our lives, our responsibility”

The short movie (30 minutes maximum) can be seen as a creative attempt for capturing all the experienced emotions: excitement, joy, serenity, confidence and hope, provoked and expressed during the implementation of the activities within the project, mostly the campaign “BeHealthy” and the marathon. It will also include valuable advices from local athletes with serious expertise in their field of realization as a powerful form of incentive for a more active lifestyle of the CBC youth; the youngsters involved in the recreational initiatives will be able to freely articulate their perspective towards the matter and share how/if they have changed during their participation. After its realization it will be presented in front of the wider public in Boljevac and Chiprovtzi and will be freely distributed in the website and the other communicational platforms. The objective that stands behind the activity is an appreciation of the youngster’s efforts engaged in the different events of the project, as well as a construction of an innovative mechanism for stimulation of the youth’s desire to become more responsible towards themselves and towards the society they are part of.
